The group is set to perform at Penfield's Harris Whalen Park, tomorrow (July 3) at 4:00 PM. This marks the first return to that stage for the group in six years. We thank the Town of Penfield for asking us back, and hope that all of our local fans come out to see us as we continue on our 2010 summer tour. On Tuesday, June 15, IT'S MY PARTY! performed at the Fairport-Perinton Merchants Association Cruise Night. This marked, to the day, twenty-five years of group history. The band's first performance was on June 15, 1985 at Panorama Plaza in Penfield, NY. Although this past June in Rochester was one of the coldest and rainiest ever recorded, the weather proved a winner. Thanks to Tony for asking us back this year. The promising young group Nex-Generation, from Penfield, played a fantastic set to open the night. The 2010 IT'S MY PARTY! group debuted at an assembly for Bay Trail Middle School in Penfield, NY on June 9; the half-hour show was a big hit amoung faculty and students. We have an IT'S MY PARTY! radio station at Pandora.com, just follow this link It's MY Party Radio, and be sure to bookmark our station. We have been contacted by John Clemente, author of the great girl group resource: Fabulous Females That Rocked The World. John would like to include IT'S MY PARTY! in an updated edition of this great book. We'll keep you informed as details unfold. Please check our EVENTS link for exciting shows in 2010. We are pleased that Penn Yan asked us to return to their concert series. The group is going into rehearsal and recording this fall, winter, and spring. We'll be back on stage soon, but in the mean time please visit our fanpage and vote for your favorite IT'S MY PARTY! venue by taking the poll on that link. 2009 Season Recap Thanks to all who attended our shows this year. This was a special performance season as two very import people attended our shows. First, Sharon, the original IT'S MY PARTY! girl, came out to Williamson to see us, then Liz, another original singer, attended our Irondequoit show. What a fabulous vibe these ladies added to each of those performances; they will always be part of the IT'S MY PARTY! family. The group finished its 2009 tour at Genesee Valley Park performing for the Miracle Walk benefit. Although it rained all day it didn't damped the spirits of those who attended. Thanks to Heritage Christian for inviting us to their event. Although the crew set up in constant rain, the Geneva show was a success. Skies cleared about an hour before the show, and several Penn Yan residents made the trek to Geneva to see the group for the second time this year. If you live near the Irondequoit Town Hall and have noticed the construction on the lawn, you may be wondering whether IT'S MY PARTY! is being cancelled tomorrow. The town is going to set up a stage behind the gazebo for the group and the show will go on as planned, that is unless the ever present threat of rain washes us out. Please plan on attending as this is the first time for the group in Irondequoit. We want to show the town the large fan base we have accumulated over the years. The Threat of Rain Tour '09 marched on with two major rain delays during the setup of the Fairport Cruz Night show on August 18. To poke fun at the terrible weather this summer, the IT'S MY PARTY! crew has been wearing "Threat of Rain Tour '09" T-shirts during setup. These shirts have created some interest by our fans, and we are thinking about printing out a few for those who wish to have one of their very own! As for the show, although delayed 20-minutes due to a 6:00 PM deluge, and a lack of classic cars, a tremendous audience assembled to watch one of our best shows of the year. It never ceases to amaze and humble us that people gravitate to that venue every time we perform. Sales of our CDs and T-shirts were brisk after our appearance. The Threat of Rain Tour '09 continued with rain during the setup of the East Rochester show on August 12. This was the group’s fourth performance in East Rochester, the second at Edmund-Lyon Park, a real gem in the heart of the village. The crowd was appreciative and receptive. Thanks for welcoming us back to your village. On Wednesday July 8 the group took the stage at Bandstand Park in Manchester. Although the weather services forecasted rain, the skies cleared for a picture-perfect evening. The rock orchestra made its second appearance and the large Manchester crowd was appreciative. Thanks to Rita and all the village employees for their hospitality! Our first full-length CD, Can I Get To Know You Better? is now available online from Kunaki.com. Click here to buy the CD. Thanks to all who attended our first Fairport Cruz Night 2009 on June 16. If you did not attend that show you need to come out and see the group's next performance on July 8 in Manchester, NY. The band/orchestra now includes Sean and Ben on violin and Johnny K. on cello; also Joe has been added this season on keyboards, giving the group the fullest, most accurate sound to date. Our first performance of 2009 is today (Saturday May 30) at ST. Rita's in Webster (1008 Maple Drive). We had an incorrect time on our event's page. We start at 6:00 PM, so if you don't want to miss the opening , please arrive at 6:00PM not 6:30 PM. Tonight's performance includes new band members Cedric, on guitar and Tom, on percussion. We are happy to see the return of our excellent horn section from last year: Nick, Mike, and Malcolm. This show kicks off the fourth performance season for Daniela, Lindsay, and Katie.
2008 We have added another performance at the Fairport Cruz Night on September 9. We'll post a recap of our interesting August performances, stay tuned! Our most recent performance was in the Town of Williamson on July 16. This was our first performance in Wayne County in eight years. Williamson has a beautiful new library and it provided the setting for this show. We checked out the venue the previous week when hometown girl Emily Kaye gave a show stopping performance. About the only disadvantage of this venue is the lack of a roof over the performance area. Well, we set up that day under a threatening sky. We readied tarpaulins for a possible deluge. Then the skies cleared about an hour before show time, all looked well, we had dodged a bullet. Fifteen minutes before we went on, and with a crowd of at least 300 people, someone in our entourage informed the band that just twenty miles to the west Rochester was experiencing thunder storms. The clouds began to fill the skies again, and then, forty-minutes into the show, it began to rain on us. Fortunately, this rain was sparse, we had just missed the storm as it passed to the south, and the skies cleared again. Now this may be coincidence, but during the rain the bass amp "blew up/fried." We tried to get the amplifier working again to no avail; fortunately we send the bass through the house PA system. We used the stage monitors so we could hear the bass on stage. The girls did a fantastic job covering while we had these technical difficulties. Thank you Williamson for a memorable show you were a great audience, also thanks to the Smiths and Jerry B. for making it to the show, you are awesome! The group performed the Fairport Cruz night on July 8. It was another bad night to play outdoors with temperatures hovering around 90 degrees combined with Upstate New York's famous high humidity. Well, at least it didn't rain this time. Cars stayed away due to the heat -- I guess classic cars don't work well in heat -- but the folks in Fairport settled in for an IT'S MY PARTY! concert. All in all it was not a bad night. Thanks to the folks vacationing on the canal who helped us unload our equipment. June performance dates included the Fairport Cruz Night in Fairport, the skies opened around an hour before the show, which didn't encourage the car enthusiasts to bring out their wheels. Thanks to Tony for letting the group play to the audience members who braved the rain. Talk about true fans! On June 27 the Bella Lago show in Canandaigua was indoors as part of the Canandaigua "Fourth Fridays." Bella Lago was build in the '40s, it's a real gem that will most likely one day see the wrecking ball in the interest of "progress"; recall the demise of Roseland Park. Again the day's event saw 90 degree weather and humid conditions. Oliver Blitz played outside until 9:30 and then we took over inside around 9:45. The intimate audience seemed appreciative. We'd like to thank Marty Natchez for arranging a telephone interview between John Giotto, the producer of IT'S MY PARTY!, and Eddie Rambeau, co-songwriter of "Kiss Me Sailor," and singer of the hit cover of "Concrete and Clay." We will have an edited version of the interview available on our website shortly. Thanks again to our good friend Marty Natchez for making this happen! Our first show of the season was on June 6 at St. Rita in Webster. Thanks to all who attended on an oppressive hot and muggy night. There are new photos from the St. Rita show at our photos link. We are excited about this summer's performances and we would like to welcome Eric Romano as our new guitarist. If you make it to our next show on June 17 in Fairport, be sure to say hi to Eric and welcome him to the group. We wanted to let you know about some updates. Our final summer performance in Honeoye, NY on August 31 was a success. Over 400 people attended the show on a perfect night. Thanks go out to Wendy and the rest of the committee for inviting us this year. Once again, CD sales of R.S.V.P. were brisk. The August 28 "Fairport Cruz Night" show sure was interesting. Usually we start at 6:30 and play until 8:00, however while our crew was setting up that afternoon; they learned that the organizers of the event added a dog drill team demonstration at 7:00 to the show. As planned, our very talented soundman, Mike Zanche, kicked off the show at 6:00. Mike's on stage persona is Project Scooby, an all original venture. We made a quick decision to have Project Scooby play for about forty-five minutes, instead of the originally planned twenty-minute set, filling the void before the dog team exhibition. At seven O'clock, the dog drill team from Rochester, NY went through its routine. The dogs were great, adding a new flavor to the night, and after all, spontaneous events such as these are what make for a good story down the road. We began around seven-thirty and played until nine O'clock. It seemed to all work out well in the end, what a night, and crowd. Fairport has been so very receptive to us, and this show was no exception. Thanks to all of you who attended and to those who purchased our CD; see you next year! Thank you Doug "The Pooch" Pucci, host of "Hopes and Dreams," at WLGZ-Legends 990AM for spinning "Silhouettes." Thank you DJ Stu, host of "The Pop Shoppe," at Top Shelf Oldies for the generous forty-five minute interview with IT'S MY PARTY! Three of the musicians in Sophisticated Boom Boom, It's My Party's backing band, went to the Marshfield Fair, in Marshfield Massachusetts, on August 18. Hosts Ed and George of WATD's Yesterday's Memories assembled a solid line up of artists. The Wing-it Band, the backing ensemble for all of the acts, kicked off the show with a solid performance. Torri, a local high school girl, belted out several great tunes, including "You Baby," originally done by the Turtles. Next up were the Tutti-Fruitties, a girl group similar to IT'S MY PARTY!, these teens gave a strong performance, which included a show-stopping rendition of "Thank You and Goodnight," originally performed by The Angels. Next to perform were our producer's favorite girl group, The Pixies Three. The choreography was tight, and so were the harmonies. "442 Glenwood Avenue," "Gee," and "Birthday Party" rocked. The show concluded with the Boston local, Freddy "Boom, Boom" Cannon. It's Available! The new full-length CD from IT'S MY PARTY!
What fantastic back-to-back nights the group had at Fairport's Kennelly Park Gazebo and Canandaigua's Commons Park. According to the Canandaigua officials, it was their largest crowd of the year. We appreciate all of you who purchased a copy of R.S.V.P. at these shows, enjoy! Something funny happened at our first 2007 performance on June 2, the drumset actually toppled over during the penultimate song of the night. It was a awkward moment as the drummer struggled to right the kit for the final song, while the girls did their best to stall for time. If you have seen the movie That Thing You Do!, The Wonders had a similar experience when they played in Pittsburgh. One story to pass along about a particular recording session for the new CD. It was on January 16, during the recording of vocals when the studio experienced a power failure. Every one remained calm, and cell phones were impressed into service as flashlights. The power came back on quickly; we found out later that evening that the power loss was due to a train derailment about two miles from the recording studio. Fortunately, no one was injured in the accident. General News IT'S MY PARTY! music is receiving airplay on the Dallas/Fort Worth radio station How about dropping the IT'S MY PARTY! girls some E-MAIL.
